Vacation Pics

Here are the latest pics from spring break.

The pyramids in Mexico City. This one is the Sun Pyramid. Over 250 steps one way.....our legs were hurtin'.

Me in front of what I like to call ginormous aloe vera plants....apparently, they are century plants. Who knew.

One of Diego Rivera's amazing murals at the Secretaria de Educacion Publica in Mexico City. We received a free tour and spent a couple of hours, literally, staring at the art. In this mural, Diego painted Frida with the rest of his "revolutionaries". (middle with the orange shirt)

Mexico City's Zocolo or central square. It is the second largest in the world after Moscow.

Street in Mazamitla. We were really excited about visiting this mountain village. After nearly a three hour drive, one way (when we were told it was an hour 1/2) , we were disappointed to find very little shopping. We would like to return, however, for the hiking around the waterfalls.

Guadalajara Governor's mansion. A few of us ventured into centro while my mom was here. We hadn't explored the Governor's mansion and were pleased to find more famous Mexican murals depicting the revolution. Thanks mom for taking this pic!

Mom and I at her first Mexican (not really) dinner at Cafe Cuatro down the road from my house.

After exploring Mexico City in our flip flops, Tara and I discovered we had picked up half of the dirt from the roads..........disgusting!!!

Las Dos Fridas in the museum of modern art....Mexico City. It was so cool to see her art in person, like meeting someone famous!
